The Flashhouse

This band formed, “made it” and died all in one year at our final year at university. For me personally it was the  second start in music I had been looking for, and I could finally break away from the tired 70’s cover bands and dodgy originals bands I had been in before. This band had it all. Way ahead of their time in song writing. Great music with a modern contemporary feel yet paying respect to what had gone before. Fantastic lyrics by Mr Green, superb drums and most importantly a true front man! Marc(o) was the consummate front man. Huge personality (albeit slightly off centre) and stage presence. Great voice and magnificent keyboard player. Sadly the band split before we ever got to keyboards in our songs. The band played Keele university at their own gigs but also main stage gigs supporting acts such as John Cooper-Clark, The Blues Band, Climax Blues Band, Divine and The Thompson Twins. Still to this day I have absolutely no doubt that had this band stayed together they would have been professional and done extremely well with true longevity. All that remains of recordings is this poor audio capture of a rehearsal - what a shame. Sadly the time wasn’t right and it wasn’t meant to be.
